Bluegrass State Turns To Foosball2008 Kentucky State Foosball Championships Prove to Be a Huge Success![]() Lexington, KY - August 11, 2008 The 2008 Kentucky State Foosball Championships came to a close August 4th, after a weekend-long tournament filled with winners, memorable matches, fierce competition, and everything else in-between. The tournament, presented by Warrior Table Soccer (WTS) and Independent Foosball Promotions (IFP), was held at the Holiday Inn in Lexington, KY. The first joint venture between WTS and IFP, run by Mary Moore, proved to be a great success. The tournament featured the new Warrior Table, which was designed by WTS President Brendan Flaherty, and debuted to positive feedback amongst the foosers at the competition. The professional singles winner was the number one ranked Kane Gabriel, who rose up from the loser's bracket to defeat the number eighteen ranked John Zoller in the final, while the professional doubles winner was the 35th ranked team of Matt Groth and Brian Guaiana, who went on to upset the 28th ranked team of Shane Darby and Ray Sipes in the final. Most winners in all categories ended up winning a trophy and a cash prize. Many foosers of all ages participated, including an international crowd, as well.
