The Tournament Director for the 2003 Warrior
Table Soccer Championships is Johnny Lott, one
of the sport's great early players and the founder
of the original Foosball Hall of Fame. He will
be your answer guy in most cases. Southern California's
Ken Oda has been given the crucial position of
Tournament Equipment Manager. With our brand new
table and the best players in the world competing,
Ken is truly going to be an important part of
this inaugural Warrior event. The Head Official
is 2003 Official of the Year Terry Rue from Louisiana.
For the last few years he has been recognized
as one of the sport's very best referees. With
Warrior's hierarchy wanting to open up the game,
they felt that they needed not only one of the
best in this position, but also someone with the
character and conviction to interpret the rules
for the 21st century.
Brendan Flaherty's energetic mother Betty (91
years young) says she will break away from the
slot-machines to watch the Open Doubles final...
as long as she can get in on some of the "action"
on the match of course! The highly-competent Ron
and Karen Escobar will be overseeing and operating
their coveted indoor tournament software, making
sure this weekend's "extravaganza" runs as smoothly
and efficiently as possible. Of course the Warrior
Customer Service girls will be everywhere this
weekend, all ready and willing to help in any
way they can. And with the rest of our experienced
staff (look for the black shirts with red trim)
and the cooperation of all the players in attendance,
this tournament should be a memorable and rewarding
experience for everyone who attends. Warrior wants
to make this weekend an experience that you won't
soon forget!
On Friday evening there will be an exciting live
rock and roll band on stage in the tournament
ballroom. Just adjacent to the ballroom, you'll
find a tavern room that will offer food and beverages,
as well as a public address system and a live
video feed from the pits. There will also be pager-watches
available for all that are interested. You will
no longer need to have a friend listening for
your matches when you leave the tournament room.
These watches will page you (vibrate) with the
table number that your match has been called-up
on. With the luxurious Rio Hotel as our tournament
host, players are assured a fun-filled weekend
of foosball, friends and gaming at one of Las
Vegas' premier entertainment resorts. With a casino
of 120,000 square feet, two exciting nightclubs,
4 swimming pools, workout facilities, a world-class
spa with steam rooms, whirlpools, massage, and
a beach and lagoon all to itself, the Rio doesn't
lack for amenities. The Rio is also universally
known for their award-winning dining experiences.
Casino Player magazine's "Best of Gaming" 2003
states that "The Rio has the best Seafood at Buzio's,
Italian food at Antonio's, Mexican food at Bamboleo
and the best buffet at the Village Seafood Buffet".
Thanks and have a great time!
